Aquarium Installations

Laboratory Glass
University project - Task Description: creating glass installations by glassblowing and ‘sticks’ with laboratory glass techniques fitting to a 25x25x25 cm aquarium. We had to think in an exhibition situation, without professional aquarium equipment.
We had to think about making it functional so that the objects are more than fish swimming through them. My aim was to design an environment where the animals would feel good and be able to stay for a longer period of time.

Glass stick - style
The ‘sticky’ glass installation facilitates the feeding of animals that are sensitive to the quality of water, wherein the food has to be removed within a few hours. The food is pierced  by a needle with thread, then the needle is fixed in the glass tube(s) while the animals eat.  After a given time, the food can easily be removed.
The glass installations can be moved on the side of the aquarium, which causes new visual designs to be created outside the walls as well as inside them. The food and glass compositions require the owner’s creativity.
The structure is suitable for lower and higher glass walls.
